Is Grumpy Muddah a race?

 

Grumpy Muddah is not a race or timed event. The goal is to simply complete the course!

General Questions

Who created the Grumpy Muddah?

 

The Grumpy Muddah was created by the Wabasha-Kellogg Chamber of Commerce in an effort to raise funding for the Wabasha Ambulance Service.

Can I use the Grumpy Muddah logo?

 

While we appreciate your support and interest, we do ask that you e-mail us for logo usage of any kind.

Does Grumpy Muddah have a phone number I can call?

What should I bring to Grumpy Muddah?

 

  • Shoes-normal running shoes

  • Clothes-lightweight stuff that dries quickly Even on cold days, heavy/thick clothing just retains water. Bring a change of clothes for the after-party.

  • Gloves-a debatable item. Some people love them, others dispose of them along the course.

  • Photo ID-You MUST bring a photo ID. Without it, you will not be allowed to participate!

  • Watch-if you want to know your time

Event Day Questions

Is there a bag check?

 

There is free bag check for our participants. It is up to you to make sure you keep your number for your bag to ensure its safe return.

Please note: The Grumpy Muddah is not responsible for lost or stolen items, we do police security at our bag check at all times to help eliminate this problem. Only YOU can pick up your items.

Will there be alcohol at the event?

 

There will be alcohol available for sale at the Grumpy Muddah. All participants of legal drinking age will receive one beer as a part of their registration which they can collect after the conclusion of the event at the finish line.

Will there be showers?

 

All participants will have the opportunity to be hosed down at the end of the course. There is a bathroom located in the chalet that is for participants only to change into a new set of clothes.

What is the deadline to register?

 

You can register up until the day of the event (June 14). There are discounted rates for registering early so do so to take advantage of these savings. Please note a change this year to our fees/refunds policy.

Registration Questions

Can I register by phone or mail?

 

You can register by phone. Just call us during normal business hours: 

Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (651) 565-4158

 

We do not allow you to register by mail.

Is there an age requirement to participate?

 

You must be at least 16 years of age and have parent/guardian consent. If you are under 18, a parent/guardian must be present at registration to sign your waiver. Without a signature, no refund, no run.

 

There is no age limit!

How fit should I be to complete the Grumpy Muddah?

 

The Grumpy Muddah is a fun event designed to test your all round fitness and mental stability. Fitness alone will not get you through this course. Having a team makes it easier. Grumpy Muddah Boot Camp is held a month prior to the event.

Participant Eligibility Questions

What is included in my entry fee?

 

As a participant in the Grumpy Muddah you will get an ice cold beer, entry to the post party, free parking, free bag check, a super awesome medal and t-shirt.

Do I have to sign a waiver?

 

Yes. When you arrive on event day, you will sign a waiver in which you will acknowledge that by participating in the Grumpy Muddah, you expose yourself to certain risks, including personal injury. For legal reasons, we suggest that you read and understand the waiver before signing it.

 

All participants are required to purchase insurance with their registration as well. This helps cover particpants who get injured on the course.

How much does it cost to enter the Grumpy Muddah?

 

Prices are listed out on the Grumpy Muddah information page. You must register and pay for your registration to lock in your price. If you register but do not complete the registration process by paying before the next pricing tier, we cannot extend the price of your registration and you will be charged the next tier.

 

To ensure proper registration please note the following:

 

  • You must continue on through PayPal either registering as a guest or under your personal login information in order to successfully complete registration. We will not call you to inform you that your registration did not go through so check for that confirmation e-mail

  • If you do not receive your confirmation e-mail within 7 days of registering-please call (651) 565-4158 or e-mail us

  • Prices listed are per individual, not per team

  • There is a $10 insurance charge that is required of all participants

Cost & Pricing Questions

What do the different price levels mean?

 

The names of the price levels do not reflect a different experience on the event day. The distinction is made by date, as the price levels correspond with the available dates for registration. The earlier you sign up, the less expensive the price level tier.

 

Rebate & Refund Questions

I'm injured and can't run...how do I get a refund?

 

Unfortunately it is impossible for us to assess injuries on a case by case basis, therefore we do not provide refunds when participants are injured and cannot participate. However, we do allow your registration fee to transfer to another person wanting to participate in the event. In order to transfer your registration the injured party must call us immediately to adjust the registration to the new participant information.

 

Can I get a refund?

 

Unfortunately we do not issue refunds regardless of circumstance, nor do we issue partial refunds as per the terms & conditions agreed upon by each participant during the registration process. We totally understand how sucky that is, but it makes our lives easier when trying to shuffle hundreds of participants and their information in our database. We only allow you to transfer your registration to another person in the event of injury. See above.

 

How much is the team rebate and when will I receive it?

 

Grumpy Muddah offers discounts to teams of 5 or more participants registered on a team. Please check out the cost and refunds policy on the registration page for the details. 

 

Are teams required to finish together?

 

Teams are not required to finish together. We do encourage you to stick with your team and help each other complete the course. 

Team Registration Questions

How big can teams be?

 

It isn't the size of the wave...but the motion of the ocean.

 

Teams can be as big as you like! We love large groups...so to answer your question--no limit to how big or small your team can be.

Can I combine teams?

 

No. You cannot and we are sorry. If you register as an individual, you may run with another team, but you will not receive the team discount.

Can I change my team name?

 

Sure! You can do so by e-mailing us and providing the following information:

  • Your Name

  • Your Current Team Name

  • Your New Team Name
  • Team Members Names

Do I have to pay for parking?

 

Anyone participating in the event will receive a parking pass in their e-mail waiving their fee for parking. All spectators will be charged a $10 per car fee regardless of number of passengers.

 

Parking, Lodging Questions

Where can I find hotels for this event?

Where do I park on event day?

 

Parking will be available first thing when you pull up to the course. You will be asked for $10 or your parking waiver. Make sure you have this when you park your vehicle if you are a participant! These will not be reissued and attendants will not have a list of participants.

 

Can I skip Obstacles?

 

Absolutely NOT...just kidding! Of course you can skip obstacles. The Grumpy Muddah is not a race, so it is just fine with us if you want to skip an obstacle...or two. Given you may not be as muddy as others, but you are more than welcome to do so.

 

Course & Obstacle Questions

Are there bathrooms along the course?

 

There are two bathrooms provided along the course. Please see the course map for locations of these stations.

 

Can I run the course twice in one day?

 

Unfortunately we cannot allow you to run the course twice.

What obstacles are going to be at the Grumpy Muddah?

 

We will release the official course map 2 weeks prior to the event date. Check out the sample course map from 2013's event to prepare yourself...

Are there water stations on the course?

 

Yes! There will be water stations throughout the course and those will be marked on the official course map when released 2 weeks prior to the event start date. 4-6 total water stations will be provided.

Will there be medical staff present along the course?

 

Yes! Grumpy Muddah wants you to feel as safe as possible...all while having fun of course. Each obstacle has at least one certified EMT present with first aid stations at the top of each hill and at the start/finish line.
